Have you ever typed (typo) when typing something on a computer or smartphone, if ever that means we are the same, because I was chatting and only realized the typo after the message was sent so I have to clarify. is it just a trifle?

Then what if scientific papers such as theses or official letters can be a problem right? If you meet a careful lecturer with a typo, it will definitely be a reason for revision again, graduation can be delayed just because of a typo.

To help you with this typo problem, in this article I will share information on several online sites where to check for typos, with the sites I will convey below, typos will be marked in red and usually will also be accompanied by correct writing suggestions.

The question is there a way to check for typos offline? The answer is yes, you can use Microsoft Office, WPS Office, and other document editors. But in my opinion, the offline setting will be complicated here and there and the language dictionary (especially Indonesian) is not updated so there may be undetected typos. Besides, the internet is getting cheaper and faster, so if I prefer checking for typos online.

One example lately is that every time I finish writing an article on a blog, before publishing it, I will definitely check the writing first, if there is a typo, if there is, of course it will be corrected. Okay, just below, I will present 5 online sites that you can use to check for typos, especially those in Indonesian.

1. Typoonline

Typoonline is a site that I recommend first, because on this site we can check our writing quickly, besides that there is also an Indonesian dictionary so we can learn the correct word writing and what the word means. However, in my opinion, Typoonline has a little flaw when trying to correct a long word where some of the sentences are not corrected, that's the result of my experiment when writing this, I don't know if there will be any changes for the better.

2. Google Document

If you want to correct long text such as a thesis or article that has a thousand words then I recommend using google doc, this is because with just a few clicks like the image below, the text correction will be done automatically (make sure you use the google indonesia site).

All wrong words will be marked with a red line at the bottom, then if the cursor is hovered over the wrong text then Google will issue a suggested word that is correct.

However, there is a slight oddity after I tried typing the word in the screenshot above, where the word "apotik" would not be detected as an error if I didn't add the word "rumah sakit" in front of it.

3. Word Online

The second choice after Google Doc is Microsoft Word Online, a feature that is almost the same as Google Doc but a bit difficult to use, you must have an Outlook email account to use it (which Indonesians rarely have) and have to do settings like this.

1. Select the review tab

2. Choose the language we want, don't forget to make sure Don't check spelling and grammar is not checked.

3. The results are like the image below, if the cursor is brought closer, it will also show the correct word suggestions.

Just like the previous google doc, if I omit the word "rumah sakit", the word "apotik" is not detected as a word error. In addition, before the steps above you actually have to block all the posts that you want to correct (to make it easier you can use CTRL + A to block all text), this step is not required in google documents.

So in conclusion I will still choose google doc as the main correction tool, because it is easier (no need to block text first), maybe I will use word online, if only the google doc text format suddenly breaks when opened in the Microsoft word offline application.

4. Ejaan

Ejaan.id is almost the same as the typoonline that I discussed above, but in correcting a sentence there are still shortcomings, namely when I blame a word (by reducing the letter) it cannot be detected incorrectly, as in the example in the image below.

The wrong word "mencba" was not detected as an error, while the word "apotik" was successfully corrected and the correct one was "apotek". In my opinion, if the advantages of spelling id and typoonline are combined into one new platform it will become the perfect Indonesian correction tool.

5. KBBI Kemdikbud

Kbbi is the official standard word checking site from the Ministry of Education and Culture, if there are new words in Indonesian, maybe the most updated is the Ministry of Education and Culture's website, but I think the website lacks features and looks less modern, for example there is no sentence correction feature and only relies on a standard Indonesian dictionary , so you have to correct it manually and use the KBBI dictionary as a confirmation tool.

Okay, those are 5 Indonesian spell checker sites, hopefully they can help all of you who are making official documents so that there are no typos. For your convenience, from the 5 sites above I recommend Google Doc as a correction tool, because it is easy to set up and is a Google product so in my opinion it is more accurate. Bye, thanks
